Football is BACK! Giants Win “Hall of Fame” Game Following Michael Strahan’s HOF Induction (Video), & David Wilson Shut Down For Season

In the first preseason game of the 2014 NFL Season following the Induction of the 2014 HOF class (watch Michael Strahan’s Acceptance Speech below), the Giants rallied late to beat the Bills 17-13 off of an impressive performance from NY’s 4th round draft pick Andre Williams, 2nd year backup-QB from Syracuse Ryan Nassib, & an solid box score from the starter looking to bounce back from his worst year of his career, Eli Manning

Eli went 6-7 for 43 yards in the 3 possessions he played, while Williams had 7 carries for 48 yards, including a 3 yard TD run to put the G-Men up early

Before going into some more serious news for the Giants, here’s the video of Strahan’s entertaining speech with an intro by Jay Glazer (speech starts at 5:30):

David Wilson’s Future

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants

More importantly, the Giants announced earlier that they will be shutting down David Wilson for the season for re-aggravating a neck injury in practice he’s been struggling with his entire NFL career … Wilson’s NFL future unfortunately is in very serious doubt after this setback:

Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports 1 reported that Wilson has been advised he should no longer play football, and his days with the Giants are “likely done.”

A first-round draft pick in 2012, Wilson has rushed for five touchdowns and 504 yards in 21 career NFL games.

It’s truly sad to see something like this happen to such an incredible athlete… Wilson always had the tools that it took to succeed in this league – he was a tough back with a constant motor … He never reached his full potential because of fumbling issues, so even during the times when he WASN’T hurt, Coughlin often had him in the dog-house for turning the ball over so much … I am very confident that Wilson would have undoubtedly been the starter for the Giants for his entire career, and likely would have gone down as one of their best rushers had his full potential panned out …

That being said, injuries are part of the game, and the Giants will have plenty to choose from going forward between Rashad Jennings (who they picked up in the offseason from the Raiders) and draft pick Andre Williams … All I can say is I hope for the best for Wilson and that he has a speedy and successful recovery
