Philadelphia 76ers Retire Allen Iverson’s Number Last Night; A Look-Back On His Influence On the NBA & Hip-Hop Culture

Philadelphia 76ers Retire Allen Iverson's Number Last Night

The Philadelphia 76ers honored one of their greats last night, retiring the #3 jersey for “The Answer.”

Iverson had his share of controversies during his career, but no one can deny that he was as real as it gets … He also put on for the city of Philadelphia – It’d be hard to find a Philadelphian who wasn’t proud as hell to say that they had Iverson for most of his career …

Iverson was as raw as they come – He also made his mark on hip-hop culture to some degree … Featured in a variety of rap lyrics and representing the epitome of urban & hip-hop culture for the city of Philadelphia, Iverson had a strong influence on the culture during his time spent in the NBA …

Everyone remember these shoes? I used to kill to be able to get a pair of these … Commercial features Jadakiss … Just goes to show how his influence on the NBA as well as hip-hop culture go hand-in-hand…

Here’s an example of Iverson aka Jewels showing the world he can spit … I wouldn’t argue that The Answer was known for his music career, but he wasn’t so bad …

Here are a couple other highlights of Iverson:
