Chadcad’s Top 5 Mixtapes of 2013

1. New Jet City – Curren$y:

Spitta Andretti put together the tape of the year by mixing killer beats with his smoked out lyrics about cars, girls, and money. What makes Jet City so good is its perfect serving of both hard and chill beats as well as wonderful production. And to cap things off, Spitta enlists an A list of features: Wiz, Rozay, Jada, Juicy J, Juvenile, Lloyd, and more of his jet   life comrades. Don’t get it twisted the amount of features aren’t there to hide curren$y’s bars (in the way 2 chainz enlists the whole rap game to sell an album). Best of the best tracks include: Choosin; Clear; Three 60; Bitch Get Up, Coolie in the Cut; Mary. Shit the whole thing is great. DL:

2. Electric Highway – Rockie Fresh

Print After signing with MMG, Rockie Fresh released this tape and proved his spot as the MMG rookie of the year. Rockie’s  laid back flow mixed with great beats and perfectly timed features makes this a must have tape of 2013. The whole aura around this tape brings you into a futuristic world with tracks such as: The Future, The Lights, and Lights Glow;  but rockie keeps bringing you back to reality with classic jams such as: Life Long, I’m Wit It, and Roll up Right Now.  Amazing Tape top to bottom. Salute. DL:

3. Welcome to Forever – Logic

Young Sinatra had a bit of youtube buzz coming into 2013, and I thought he would never be much more, but I was wrong. Welcome to Forever is a grade A tape from someone very few people have ever heard of. The Maryland product uses his fast flow to murder some up beat tracks, but he does a great job of slowing it down throughout the album to rap on topics such as the come up, exes, and ofcourse having a good time. Best Tracks: Ballin; The High Life; Feel Good; Break it Down. DL:

Catch the rest of the list after the jump

4. PartyNextDoor – PartyNextDoor

Party-Next-Door-PARTYNEXTDOORAnd out of nowhere comes a new OVO artist PartyNextDoor. This dude is a bit more R&B, and some have described him as a mix of Canadian powerhouses The Weeknd and Drake (although not at all on that level). This dude has some great potential and is on the right team to showcase his talents. Best tracks: Break from Toronoto; Right Now; Over Here. DL:

5. Life Changes – Casey Veggies

Casey_Veggies_Life_Changes-front-large Mr. Peas and Carrots debuted his most impressive mixtape of his young career with Life Changes. CV is not for  everyone, but the LA native makes some fun tracks to bump to. He has a very different style than the popular LA king  K. Dot, but Veggies has a unique flow that hiphop heads will appreciate. Best Tracks: Young Winners; Life Changes; The Team DL:
